Thanks For a Fantastic Knuckles Week! Featuring Art Contest Winners!

Knuckles Week has well and truly finished, and while it only lasted for a short while it was lovely to see so many Sonic fans come out and participate in the event! We had people race through their favourite games as Knuckles for the 52 Game Challenge 2024, some great themed discussion topics on the forums and a huge amount of activity in our Sonic Wiki (thanks in part to our new Bounties system)!

But all good things must come to an end. Everyone who participated in Knuckles Week - from posting a forum topic, to commenting on a Knuckles Week feature, to gameplay and beyond - has now received the following exclusive Achievement Badge on their Sonic Stadium profile:

Pretty cool, huh!? Treasure these, as we often hand out cool little Achievements like these whenever we run community events on-site, and these kinds of events will be the only time you can earn them!

Another great way the community came together to celebrate Knuckles during his Week was in fanart. As you may know already, we kicked off a themed contest where winners could net themselves a whole range of Knuckles-related merchandise. Well, we haven't forgotten about you (sorry it's taken a few extra days to get round to judging the entries!), we're about to roll off the winners for this right now!

First Prize Winner

This incredibly stylish piece of fan art from @SpeedyChilidogsreally hit us in the feels, like a gut punch from the rad red echidna himself. We love the eye-popping use of colour, the energetic pose and the positioning of the Master Emerald and text that tells you everything you need to know about the new porcupine on the block with the buff chest.

Second Prize Winner

Coming in at a VERY close second, this detailed piece by @kilnacatgives us a real sense of nostalgia, and shows us a pensive side of Knuckles that we don't often see (but is very much part of his character). Here, he is seen observing the Marble Garden Zone on Angel Island, and we adore the shading and the work that has gone into the environment here.

Third Place Winner

@cosmichaosposted TWO pieces of Knuckles fanart (and both are very good) but we were drawn to this particular piece showcasing Knuckles facing off against Rouge the Bat. The pair of them are often butting heads over who owns the Master Emerald, and it looks like the Batgirl has succeeded in fully annoying Knuckles, simply by being there. We really liked the angry side of Knux showing up here, the hot-headedness of his character shining through.

Honourable Mentions

While we sadly don't have enough time or money to offer a prize to absolutely everyone who took part in the contest, we wanted to share our huge appreciation for everyone who did submit a piece of fan art. You guys are all superstars, and we loved every entry we saw. It was incredibly hard to choose winners, really, so take solace in the fact that your art is up there with the greats on this page.

While it wasn't posted in our Fan Art Gallery (instead it was posted in the Blogs section), we're glad we were able to spot this entry by @Stk24, which shows off several varieties of Knuckles from different eras and universes. We particularly like the inclusion of Mecha Knuckles on the right there. Great job Stk!

Posted in the comments section of our Knuckles Fan Art Contest post, this image from @Maschroom_12 gives us an exciting action pose from Knuckles, biffing Neo Metal Sonic right in the cheek there. That's sure gonna sting. Thank you for your incredible efforts Maschroom - we love the colours and the detailed environments here!
